Job Summary

Coordinate resources (internal personnel, contractors, special equipment, vehicles, tools, etc.) and satisfy job requirements  timely in order to achieve maximum efficiencies & the timely completion of work.

 

This is a multli-level growth series position.  Internal candidates will move laterally at their current grade level and will not be eligible for a promotion, therefore, the internal candidate must apply for the posting at their current grade level.  This applies to candidates moving within the same career path (e.g., analyst, supervisor, engineer), or to a different career path (e.g., analyst to engineer, supervisor to analyst). The selected candidate will have an opportunity to be promoted within the career path during an annual review.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resources (internal personnel, contractors, special equipment, vehicles, tools, etc.) and satisfy job requirements (switching & clearance requests, outage coordination, mark outs, flagging, tree trim, etc.) timely in order to achieve maximum crew efficiencies & the timely completion of work.
  • Coordinate with materials management to ensure materials are available to meet schedules, assist in the management of material requirements, and report material deficiencies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage backlog of work available and develop prioritized contingency work in order to capitalize on opportunities to achieve safety, efficiency, reliability, and financial goals.
  • Create and estimate work requests for emergency work as well as other types of work, as necessary, to ensure accurate accounting on work orders.
  • Coordinate the day to day relationship with relevant internal and external parties in order to understand their need dates, schedule resources, ensure work progression and deliver appropriate solutions in line with policies and processes.
  • Manage the National Joint Utilities Notification System (NJUNS) to meet due dates & avoid DPS penalties.
  • Coordinate with Towns, Villages and Utilities that do not participate in NJUNS of upcoming response dates for their transfers and communicate with them, closing their step in NJUNS to move the ticket along
  • Take the lead role in reviewing accident claims to confirm costs and man-hours to ensure accuracy in billing.
  • Coordinate with materials management to ensure materials are available to meet schedules, assist in the management of material requirements, and report material deficiencies to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manage backlog of work available and develop prioritized contingency work in order to capitalize on opportunities to achieve safety, efficiency, reliability, and financial goals.
  • Analyze the Damage tracking System (DTS) and bill accordingly for claims.
  • Communicate with field accident investigators for accuracy of job description and police reports.
  • Contact work coordinators and field supervisors for accuracy in labor chargers and materials.
  • Request contractor bills and crew sheets for claims.
  • Manage the double wood backlog to minimize unsafe conditions for the public and our internal and contractor crews

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree with two years of experience OR in lieu of a degree High School Diploma or GED with at least 4 years' equivalent work experience in a process oriented function such as, billing, accounts receivable, administrative work or construction areas of a utility.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning tools (ie: SAP, Oracel)
  • Experience with relevant software such as Microsoft Office products and possess the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels and across organizations. 
  • Demonstrated personal accountability and excellent organizational skills to deliver performance excellence. 
  • Ability to work shifts which may include working nights and/or weekends during storm restoration. 
  • A valid US drivers' license with a safe driving history.

 

Desired

  • Basic knowledge and experience with electric transmission and distribution systems.
  • Experience in reading, interpreting, and managing project and program schedules.
