Job description
Longwood University has a full-time, faculty position in the Graphic and Animation Design program. This is a one-year full-time, non-tenure-track visiting position starting August 2023. We are seeking a skilled professional with experience in a variety of disciplines including graphic and motion design. The candidate should be someone with an industry background who can use his or her professional experiences and technical proficiency in the classroom. A successful candidate will also be able to teach digital craft in our foundations program. We are looking for a professional who can guide student’s awareness of story, design, audience and collaboration within a production environment. The Graphic and Animation Design program applies a unique approach to educating future designers and animators, preparing our students for careers in the industry by simulating professional experiences within a classroom setting. Responsibilities include teaching four courses per semester.
- A terminal degree (MFA or equivalent) in Graphic Design, Design, Visual Communication or Motion Design. Graphic Production and Industry experience also preferred.
- Proficiency in industry software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically After Effects, Premiere Pro, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Ability to work collaboratively with fellow program faculty.
- Demonstrate a commitment to mentor and teach students through experiential learning and using a variety of instructional methods in order to ensure student success.
