General Information:The Biology Department at Bucknell University invites applications for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor position to begin Aug. 2023. We seek a broadly trained biologist with specialization in cell and/or molecular biology. The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and an equally strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and student-centered pedagogical approaches. Documentation of the candidate’s commitment to equity in education must be included in the application materials. This is a full-time, 9-month, benefits-eligible, faculty exempt position.

Qualifications/Requirements:Applicants must have earned a Ph.D. or be ABD at the time of appointment and have relevant teaching experience or a demonstrated commitment to effective teaching.

Responsibilities:The position carries a three-course load each semester as follows: In the fall semester: An upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of interest with an accompanying lab, and additional lab section(s) in our biology core course sequence; and in the spring: a different upper-level courses in the candidate’s area of interest with an accompanying lab, and additional lab section(s) in our biology core course sequence. The candidate may also have the possibility of support for involving undergraduates in their own research.

Compensation Range:Likely base salary in the range of $62,000/year
