Job description
This position offers the successful candidate a unique opportunity to work on a state-of-the-art farm and have a significant impact addressing food insecurity in NYC and the Hudson Valley.
Responsibilities:
- Work with farm manager to participate in all aspects of our produce operation: seeding; greenhouse work; cultivation and field work; transplanting; weed and pest management; harvesting, washing and packing
- Participate in regular field work including seeding, transplanting, cultivating, irrigation and hand weeding, hoop house work, harvest, post-harvest washing and packing, and other field projects
- Ensure timely completion of daily tasks
- Ensure accurate farm record-keeping
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Willing to perform other duties as needed and work cooperatively with members of the farm team
Qualifications/Preferred Skills:
- Prior farming experience or desire to work in farming is a plus.
- Able to consistently perform quick, efficient, and high-quality work, both independently and with coworkers.
- Carry out tasks as instructed, possibly without direct supervision, and ask for clarification if unsure.
- Can perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks, such as kneeling, squatting, and lifting up to 40-50 lbs, willingness to work outside in various weather conditions
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and capacity to adapt to operational challenges
- Valid driver's license required to fulfill job duties
Compensationthis position is : hourly, $15-20/hr
