The College of Arts & Sciences at Saint Martin’s University is hiring a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor in Philosophy to create and teach exciting, relevant courses for our CORE program; to initiate a group of classes for an existing minor in Philosophy; and to serve as an allied department to Theology and Religious Studies.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach introductory classes in the Western tradition from the Greeks to the twenty-first century, and in an area of their own interest. The candidate will be both fully and critically conversant with the Catholic philosophical tradition, as well as appreciative of the multiple philosophical points of entry to that historical tradition in dialogue with modernity/contemporary thought. The candidate will also demonstrate an openness to non-Western philosophies, with a commitment to finding ways to diversify readings and philosophical traditions.

Required Qualifications:

· A doctorate in philosophy in hand at the time of appointment from an accredited university.

· The candidate is expected to support the Catholic and Benedictine mission and identity of Saint Martin’s according to the professional requirements of philosophy.

· Demonstrated potential for successful teaching at the undergraduate level.

· A record of publication in philosophy, or a plan for publication. And demonstration of how the candidate will remain current in the field of philosophy.

· Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, faculty, and staff, including a commitment to cultivating learning environments that are equitable and inclusive of students with diverse social identities and backgrounds.
