The position serves as the Assistant Chief of the Collections Discovery and Metadata Services (CDMS) Division located in the Digital Services Directorate (DSD), Discovery and Preservation Services, Library Collections and Services Group (LCSG) at the Library of Congress (LOC). The position reports directly to the Chief, CDMS and shares full responsibility for integrated library systems and management of the Library's collections metadata in LCSG. Collections Discovery & Metadata Services provides essential tools to support Library-wide functions including descriptive metadata, acquisitions, inventory, public access, and circulation. The incumbent supervises the work of metadata librarians; applies experience, knowledge and expertise in library and information science and must display knowledge of integrated library systems, implementation and management. The incumbent must be able to plan, manage, analyze and evaluate workflow, data flows, policies, and resolve conflicts and  must also be able to communicate and interact orally and in writing with individuals at all levels inside and outside the agency.
