Green River Preserve Summer Program Assistant

Position Type: Full-Time, Seasonal March- October
Job Description: As the Program Assistant at Green River Preserve, you hold a position of great responsibility and importance. Professionalism, strong work ethic, organizational skills, and demonstrated leadership skills are essential to the achievement of this role. Your warmth, enthusiasm, willingness to share knowledge and sensitivity to the needs of each camper and staff contribute profoundly to the success of our program. The summer camp program director is responsible for the following:
Specific Duties:

Responsible for planning and management of summer camp program calendars and day-to-day logistics, including evening programs, campouts, Group Learning Projects, camper and staff activity schedules, mentor cards, and staff time off schedules.

Participate in the ‘on-call team’ during the summer months. Summer months require work hours outside of a typical work week, as our office is staffed 24/7.

Participate in the ongoing training of the summer staff team, including onboarding staff emails, staff training, continual coaching throughout the summer, and off-boarding engagement after the summer.

Coordinate and manage staff paperwork.

Actively evaluate, supervise, and enthusiastically participate in all camp activities.

Plan and facilitate weekly staff meetings.

Write a daily report for distribution to all directors

Collect and manage all participant paperwork.

Coordinate an operations report each fall for the Board of Directors

Occasional travel required, including but not limited to recruitment efforts, site preparation and planning.
S.E.E. (School of Environmental Education)

Serve as a program assistant to the S.E.E. Directors during the spring & fall season.

Assist with logistics and organizing of school programs
-
Serve as a mentor for school programs when needed.

Serve as a mentor when needed for KALE program
Marketing
-
Participate actively in SEE and Summer Camp

Assist with camper leads and inquiries.

Manage onboarding and offboarding of camper parent communication.

Contribute to the website blog
-
Update GRP website to stay current and correct.

Help with a presentation about summer camp to SEE Groups.
Special Events
As needed, assist with camp special events to include:

Family Camp, retreats, weddings, open houses

Off-season programs not related to S.E.E. (Ex. Rookie Camps)

Fundraising events
-
Farm Feast Dinner

Superb organizational skills. A significant part of this job will be the organization of the logistical aspects of our operation. Attention to detail is a critical skill required for success.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, database management, and typing and data-entry skills.

Fluent written and spoken English required.

Driver’s License required. CDL preferred.

Knowledge of resident camp practices, including ACA standards, state rules, and best practices.

Regularly work within the GRP normal hours of operation of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., as well as some weekends in the fall and spring. In the summer months, a summer schedule is established which will be outside the scope of these set days to include weekend and extended hours (both AM and PM).
This is a salaried position from March-April 15th, part-time remote work (25hours/week $1500/month) April 15-October 15 ($2400/month) with on-site housing provided.
