Description
Responsible for oversight of substation engineering and consulting services for clients across the US and internationally. Main responsibilities include creating electrical protection & control and/or physical layout design deliverables. Projects range in size, complexity, and voltage class from small distribution equipment upgrades to large transmission projects. This position can influence the future of the resiliency, reliability, and economic operation of the electric grid. Opportunities to advance into leadership roles are available. Travel required 15% of the time.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field plus seven (7) years of substation engineering experience. Alternatively, the employer will also accept a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field plus six (6) years of substation engineering experience in lieu of a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field plus seven (7) years of substation engineering experience. Travel required 15% of the time.
Previous experience in the following:
Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
- Creating design deliverables in the form of drawings, reports.
Must have 4 years of experience in each of the following:
- Independent physical substation design including yard layouts, plans, sections and details, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, interior and exterior raceways, auxiliary AC/DC power systems, and associated bills of material.

Independent protection and control design including panel arrangements, one-lines/single lines, three lines, AC schematics, DC elementaries, SCADA system design, equipment wiring and relay panel wiring, voltage drop calculations, AC/DC load studies, cable, and breaker sizing.

Performing quality reviews for other engineers and designers.

Utilizing the National Electric Safety Code and IEEE /ANSI Standards for substation design.
Must have 2 years of experience in the following:
- Utilizing pdf markup software e.g., Bluebeam Revu
