Through our RamaYear program, recent college graduates devote a year or two of their early careers to an immersive, residential, year-round service experienceon our Rhinebeck, NY campus. Ramayears work in our adventure-based Retreats program. We are currently hiring for a 9-month, salaried position with benefits, including room and board. Staff members live and work on our 250-acre Rhinebeck, NY campus alongside a team of other driven and passionate young adults from across the country.
Ramayears spend their days working with groups of youth and educators on social-emotional development and outdoor adventure-based activities that build teamwork, communication, and relationship-building skills. These individuals lead icebreakers, facilitate ropes courses, build campfires, and walk participants through leadership development exercises. Additionally, Ramayears play key roles in various Ramapo programs such as our residential camp, a traditional summer camp experience for children ages 6-25 with social, emotional or learning challenges. From June- August, Ramayears join our summer camp staff acting as counselors, instructors, and supervisors.
At the outset, new RamaYear staff members receive intensive training in Ramapo’s Approach and philosophy, acquiring a toolbox of skills and strategies to create environments that foster success. Through their experiences working with groups of youth and educators, they strive to embody these practices and role model them effectively each day.
The monthly stipend for the position is $2,166 and entails a 9-month commitment, with the possibility to extend. Room and board are included, with 3 meals provided daily. Staff typically share a 2-bedroom apartment with another staff member.
