The Adams lab is recruiting a highly motivated Research Technician to join our team. Our lab focuses on understanding how neural stem and progenitor cells in the mammalian brain respond to injury or disease and how these cells contribute to functional repair in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Multiple Sclerosis. The Adams lab combines molecular and cell biology tools with translational applications using pre-clinical mouse models and post-mortem human tissue samples.
The candidate will assist the Principal Investigator (PI) in performing research and contributing to daily laboratory operations.
Responsibilities include the following:
- Administrative responsibilities related to laboratory safety, ordering supplies, performing basic laboratory and equipment maintenance, and maintaining databases.
- Perform mouse handling, including coordinating/performing basic animal care, genotyping mice, etc.
- Perform bench-level experiments that involve tissue preparation for histological analysis, immunofluorescence and microscopy, RNA expression analysis, cell culture of primary neural stem cells and human induced pluripotent stem cells, and additional techniques as needed.
- Data analysis, statistical analysis, preparing graphs, and presentation of results in lab meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in a scientific field required. Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills.
- Experience working in a research lab.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience is usually necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with mice, tissue samples, and/or cell culture is desired.
- Knowledge or experience maintaining and ordering materials is preferred.
