Position Summary

Major Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work on the development and refinement of nuclear Density Functional theory and its extensions for the nuclear many-body problem, including their numerical implementation.
    • Studies of large-amplitude collective motion, including fission 
    • Description of nuclear decays and giant resonances 
    • Development of emulators for uncertainty quantification. 
  • Disseminate results at conferences and workshops. 
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification. 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge in relevant fields of modern nuclear many-body theory.
  • Skilled with programming languages (C++, Python, …), high-performance computing, version management tools (Git), Linux, and typical office software for typesetting and presentation, e.g., Microsoft Office and LaTeX.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing with all audiences.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Physics or related field

Minimum Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a related field.
  • Excellent communication skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing with all audiences.

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior experience in relevant fields of nuclear many-body theory.
  • Experience with research software development and deployment on modern computing architectures.
