DESCRIPTION
TES has current openings for insurance and patient billers. This position is responsible for the full range of third party and patient billing duties.
Job Duties:

Utilize medical insurance and State and Federal rules and regulations related to billing insurance claims.

Process insurance claims appeals.

Utilize ICD9, ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS coding principles.

Utilize self-pay collections and mandated charity laws.
-
Utilize accounting and cash handling principles and various billing documents and claim forms.
-
Process system generated claims, edits, attach records, operative reports, and all system reports.
-
Respond to billing inquiries from patients, insurance companies and departments.

Identify and resolve issues regarding account adjustments, rebilling insurance, and/or collecting from patients as appropriate.

Other related duties as assigned.
Hours will vary between 5:00 am – 9:00 pm, Monday – Saturday. Full-time with occasional weekend hours. This will be a hybrid work arrangement.
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Must work variable hours based on business needs.
-
WPM: 30, 10-Key by touch.
-
Knowledge of medical insurance and State and Federal rules and regulations related to billing Insurance Claims.
-
Extensive knowledge in Insurance claims appeals, and range of knowledge in ICD9, ICD10, CPT, HCPCS coding principles.
-
Knowledge in self-pay collections.
-
Experience with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
-
Demonstrated knowledge of self-pay collections, 3rd party carrier billing guidelines, commercial insurance and contracts, HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medi-Cal, Champus-TriCare, CMS, GHPP, and CCS billing.

Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.
-
EPIC, Siemens, CPT & ICD9, ICD10 Medical Coding Knowledge Preferred.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Background check and medical screening are required.
Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $54,873 – $68,215 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $26.28 – $32.67
Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
