Description
The Safety and Health Department is looking for an intern to join our enthusiastic and safety-focused team! When working with the safety professionals, you will have the opportunity to support regulatory compliance and improve current processes and Safety & Health Department Initiatives.
- This internship does have the opportunity to be a year-round opportunity, starting in May of 2023; year-round consists of FT (40 hours/week) in the summer and PT (max 20 hours/week) during the school year

This position is NOT remote and must be performed in Colorado Springs, CO
In this Internship you will gain experience in the following areas:

Hands-on Safety work with department reps including Certified Safety Professionals
-
Hands-on Industrial Hygiene work is overseen by a Certified Industrial Hygienist
-
Review current Safety and Health programs against industry and regulatory standards
-
Assist with engagement with employees and contractors in multiple worksites using both General Industry and Construction Safety Standards

Assist with incident investigations identifying root causes and corrective actions under the direction of Safety Professionals

Help support the Safety and Health Team

Assist with Safety & Health Department Initiatives – Control of Hazardous Energy, First Aid Supplies
-
Communication skills (written and verbal) – Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)

Provide support and make recommendations

Function independently and as part of a team

This position will afford you the opportunity to work and gain hands-on experience with occupational health and safety program management under the direction of Certified Safety Professionals and Certified Industrial Hygienists.
Who You Are…Prospective interns must be in an undergraduate or graduate degree program pursuing Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Health, or a related discipline. Preferred candidates will have completed two years of their program. Candidates that demonstrate a desire to learn how to implement safety regulations in a diverse work force will excel within our organization.
A valid, unrestriced driver's license is required for this position.
