PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

This posting is for two new Manager roles within the Outdoor Lighting team, overseeing the newly established Operations and Smart Lighting teams, respectively.

The Manager, New Business (Operations) will lead operational work streams within Outdoor Lighting to include Work Management, Construction & Maintenance, and Financial and Operational Analysis. The Manager (Operations) will lead the team to maintain the health of the lighting system, schedule and execute a large portfolio of Capital and O&M work andprovide key metrics and reporting for financial and operational needs.
The Manager (Operations) will also serve as the Outdoor Lighting Category Manager and be responsible for a Capital portfolio of ~$23 million annually and O&M portfolio of ~$11 million annually over the next five years.

The Manager, New Business (Smart Lighting) will lead several innovative and IT-related work streams within Outdoor Lighting to include Smart Lighting, Innovation, IT System support and Asset and Billing Record Health. The Manager (Smart Lighting) will lead the team to execute a multi-year, system-wide deployment of smart lighting controls, initiate a multi-year system asset survey, drive IT system enhancements and maintenance, identify and pilot innovative technologies, identify new revenue generating opportunities, and improve the health of asset and billing records.

Both roles will report to the Sr. Manager, Design & Engineering (Outdoor Lighting), and reside within the broader Regional Electric Operations Support Department, and Electric Distribution Division. 

(New Business oversight consisting of all requests from new service, load additions, line extensions, relocations and miscellaneous requests including temporary services, demolitions, upgrades, make ready, make safe, etc.) Lead and manage regional New Business organization. Responsible for regional scorecard. Monitor performance metrics to meet customer needs, improve customer satisfaction and obtain first quartile performance in cost and reliability. Establish and maintain relationships with key builder / developers in service territories. Ensure rate policies are properly applied and collections received. Work closely with Work Management and C&M in the execution of customer requests to meet customer need dates. Respond to and investigate regulatory complaints. Responsible for metering and inspection activities as related to new business. Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Management of regional New Business organization including performance management, hiring, and career development. (40%)
  • Interface with Work Management, C&M and other stakeholders for the execution of New Business work. Establish, maintain and improve relationships with other departments (15%)
  • Interface with external customers including major developers, contractors and other utilities. Prepare and deliver presentations to externals customers and Exelon executives. (15%)
  • Prepare and monitor budget. Achieve financial targets including CIAC collection and cost per unit target. (15%)
  • Develop technical capabilities in the organization. Respond to regulatory investigations and complaints with response back to the local PUC. (5%)
  • Develop and execute strategic initiatives to support the Corporate EED goals. (10%)
  • Responsible to act as an Emergency Response Manager or equivalent level in the Emergency Response Organization. Beyond 100% of your normal duties.

JOB SCOPE

  • Responsible for oversight of all regional new business activities, including installations, removals, temporary service requirements, line extensions, new business related relocations, customer requests and un-metered service requests.
  • Has a matrix relationship with New Business Process lead and a direct relationship with the Regional Operations Lead
  • Oversight of New business expenditures of approximately $20 million budget with $4 million in CIAC collection.
  • Implement strategic initiatives to obtain significant cost reduction and high customer satisfaction.
  • Interfaces with senior management, executive managers, regional organizations, customers including large builders and developers, contractors, regulators and government officials as necessary.
  • ComEd – Directs a staff of 1 supervisor and 10 to 14 direct reports. Manages an indirect staff of 5 employees.
  • PECO - Direct reports: 16 – 22

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
  • At least 5 years of delivery experience, including at least 2 years of leadership or proven team leadership experience; 3+ years as a supervisor or manager recommended.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of distribution engineering and construction practices.
  • Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture.
  • Proven high level management skills in coaching, performance management, and developing business competencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results, build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change within a matrixed organization.
  • Self-initiator with the demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, strategic planning, customer awareness and ability to create value 0 eliminate non-value activity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate degree or graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field.
