Job description
BHI Energy is looking for candidates to fill Emergent Janitorial positions at the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant in Jensen Beach, Florida. Candidates must be able to pass General Employee Training (GET) and other station specific or job related required training. In addition, candidates must successfully complete a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ) and self-disclosure forms, which includes a criminal history background check, Fitness for Duty Testing (FFD) and other employment screening activities.
The Janitor's position is predominantly responsible for performing the cleaning of office areas,
cubical environments, conference rooms, executive offices, classrooms, shop areas, rest rooms, locker rooms, kitchen and cafeteria areas as well as hallways, common areas, security controlled areas and other power plant facilities, areas and rooms. Sweeping, mopping, vacuum operation, machine floor scrubbing, stripping & waxing and the use of other janitorial processes and equipment and tools are used in the daily servicing of the plant. Trash & recycle material removal and occasional heavy lifting
(50 lbs) is required.
Janitors will use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), for the task assigned which may include safety glasses, safety gloves, hearing protection, safety footwear, dust masks, respirators, hard hat, chaps, etc., as conditions warrant.
The plant workforce is a highly energetic and is a professional team with many career disciplines involved in the operation of the plant and the production of energy. Interaction with the plant staff is an everyday occurrence that requires the candidate have a professional appearance, demeanor and possess good communication skills while providing excellent customer service. Good teamwork is essential and the ideal candidate(s) should be able to work with safety and quality as a prerequisite for all their activities and have a sense of accomplishment in performing the work to the best of their ability as well as providing a safe and professionally clean environment when their tasks have been completed.
The cleaning of office areas, cubical environments, conference rooms, executive offices, classrooms, shop areas, rest rooms, locker rooms, kitchen and cafeteria areas as well as hallways, Security controlled areas and other power plant facilities, areas and rooms
Normal duties include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfect and sanitize, emptying trash and recyclables. Office cleaning includes spot cleaning, carpet cleaning, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, washing walls, glass, sills, mirrors and various types of horizontal and vertical surfaces as well as other cleaning activities.
Janitorial activities involve the use of cleaning solutions, aerosols and other chemicals. Janitors will be required to use hand operated janitorial tools and various power equipment such as: Single disk floor machines, vacuum cleaners, walk behind carpet extractors and floor cleaning machines. Additional duties and the use of other equipment and supplies may be required.
Janitors will use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include safety glasses, steel or composite toed shoes, hard hat, hearing protection, various types of gloves, and additional PPE — as conditions warrant.
