Position Purpose
This position performs engineering work which supports various plant functions and requires application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Exercise of professional judgment is required in the performance of the assigned tasks as well as collaborating with various work groups and overseeing contractors
Required Education & Experience
ABET accredited Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to power plant assignments.
Job Description
Performs engineering assignments associated with the design, construction, performance enhancement, cost effectiveness, operation, and maintenance of various plant equipment and systems.
Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering based problem troubleshooting, identification, analysis, and resolution.
Assists other engineers with large and/or complex projects, as required.
Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
Directs the activities of coops, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc.
Performs other duties as directed by management.
Manages capital projects and maintenance inspections including scope development, financial assessment, oversight of engineering design, installation, and commissioning (if applicable).
Identifies opportunities for improvement, calculates associated costs and/or savings, identifies risks, and determines timelines.
Performs a variety of routine tasks that will improve the individual's familiarization with the engineering methods, practices, and programs of the Company.
Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free work place.
Create and update documented records of inspections, maintenance routines and repairs.
Use knowledge of developments in relevant technology and make recommendations for overhauls and upgrades.
Manage contracts in conjunction with commercial department to ensure compliance with both terms and payment schedule.
The working requirements are predominately days but will involve being available when required for out of normal working hours according to plant needs as directed.
Work Conditions
Mix of office and field work hours. May have to cross rough surfaces, climb stairs, or traverse construction sites.
