Summary:
William Paterson University invites application for the tenure track faculty position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology in the Department of Psychology, PsyD Program in Clinical Psychology in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Reporting to the Chair of Psychology and the Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, the Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology, a member of the PsyD core faculty, contributes to recruitment and administrative functions serving doctoral students as well as provides ongoing support for program accreditation; participates in the evaluation of PsyD students’ milestone projects; and engages doctoral students in scholarly programs. Position reports to the chair of Psychology and Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Psychology Department is composed of dynamic and engaged faculty and offers BA, MA, and PsyD degrees. The Psychology Department serves a diverse population and is one of the largest departments at William Paterson University.

The Department strives to offer opportunities for students to apply classroom knowledge to a variety of real-world situations. Hands-on laboratory experiences give students a chance to design and conduct their own research.

Established in 2015, the PsyD Program is currently accredited by the APA and completed the site visit for full accreditation in December 2021.

Duties:
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Teaches graduate and undergraduate level courses in multiple modalities.
  • Develops course content, objectives, and methods of student assessment; participate in formal course and program learning assessment.
  • Provides students with consistent and effective support and guidance through role modeling, mentoring and advising.
  • Contributes to student success through curriculum and program development, assessment and management.
  • Supports the PsyD program in collaboration with the faculty, department chair, dean, and other university units and personnel.
  • Maintains an active and productive program of scholarship and research.
  • Participates in department, college, and/or university level committees and activities designed to enhance instructional processes and/or programs and services.
  • Serves on doctoral-level committees that support program and student needs
  • Performs other teaching or teaching/administrative duties as assigned, depending on departmental and program needs.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in Clinical Psychology, School/Clinical Combined, Clinical Neuropsychology, Forensic Psychology or Counseling Psychology
  • NJ licensure to practice psychology or eligible to apply for New Jersey license to practice psychology; another State license will be acceptable with expectation that the applicant will apply for NJ licensure as a clinical psychologist within 6 months of hire.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarly productivity.
