Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to teach a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in sport management and human performance-related courses (including sports management, trends, and issues in HPER, practicums, and internship, etc.), design effective curriculum, assist with the coordination of internship opportunities for undergraduate students, provide strong academic advisement and supervise internships.
Essential Functions:
- Teach 12 credits per semester.
- Collaborate in developing curriculum and establishing new course offerings.
- Advise and mentor students pursuing the undergraduate degree in sports management or sport and coaching areas.
- Participate in departmental functions and university-wide services.
- Pursue scholarly activities.
- Provide service to the Division, Region and the University.
- Collaborate in program development.
- Work with student activities.
- Perform administrative duties as deemed necessary by the Division Chair.
- Integrate the core values of respect, compassion, integrity, justice and service in all aspects of interaction with colleagues and students.
Qualifications:
The position requires a terminal degree in Sports Management or a related field. ABD considered. The candidate should have a record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research, and service, and be active in appropriate professional organizations or societies.Earned doctorate in Sports Management or a related field. ABD considered.
- Potential for excellence in teaching at the college/university level.
- Evidence of research activity and scholarship.
- Commitment to interdisciplinary & original research and/or professional practices.
- Commitment and sensitivity to issues of diversity, both within the classroom and in field overall.
In addition to a successful teaching record at undergraduate and/or graduate levels, we seek candidates with an original research agenda that complements and contributes to the departmental mission to offer a wide range of approaches to undergraduate and graduate education.
- Ability to work collegially, collaboratively, and cooperatively across the campus landscape.
- Ability to teach in both traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (studio, off-campus, evening, hybrid, and online).
- Ability and willingness to learn and effectively use instructional technology (internet, instructional software, and Canvas®).
Salary:
9 monthCommensurate with experience and qualifications
