Position Summary
The Conservatory of Music at Biola University seeks an Area Coordinator of Vocal Studies. The position is tenure track, contingent on the qualifications of the applicant.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will oversee the Vocal Area which includes majors in Vocal Performance, Music Education, Music Therapy, Worship Arts, and Theater majors with an emphasis in Musical Theater. The candidate will be responsible for supervising all adjunct and voice instructors in the vocal area and for teaching private voice to undergraduate voice majors and minors in all majors. Other assignments may include teaching Lyric Diction, Vocal Pedagogy, Song Literature, and Coach/Direct Opera and Musical Theater Productions depending on the candidate’s strengths and interests.
Duties will also include actively recruiting and retaining talented undergraduate students, advising current voice students, fulfilling Conservatory and University committee assignments, and participating in student and professional activities supported by the department. Participation in professional organizations is desired as well as maintaining a performance profile.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Music
- Performance background and university level teaching experience
- Evidence of administrative skills.
- Experience with recruiting and advising students.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Terminal Degree preferred.
- Extensive performance and university level teaching experience desired.
- Experience directing opera and/or musical theater productions.
Hiring Range:
Assistant Professor: $74,489 – $80,929
Associate Professor: $87,577 – $99,061
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
