AltaGas – Power Plant Engineer, Blythe
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Power Plant Engineer is responsible for engineering, operations and maintenance support and project management, ensuring the facility's safe, effective, and efficient operation. A hybrid work schedule is available for this position.
You Will:

Track forced outages, loss of generation, conduct root cause analysis and recommend recovery plans

project management from initiation to closing, working with Operations and Maintenance Provide

Develop and distributes requests for proposals/bid packages

Manage contractors/vendors to ensure safety and scope compliance

Maintain internal and external client/customer relationships

Prepares and presents technical reports and presentations and reviews reports/results from contracted work
-
Coordinates with external contacts such as engineering firms, manufacturer sales representatives, service personnel and vendors to discuss new or modifications to existing equipment.

Tracks and monitors overall plant performance. Identify trends, analyzes plant design and equipment to maintain high availability. Recommends changes and enhancements in operations and maintenance that maximize profit

Maintains a Plant Engineer library; develop, communicate, and perform work practices and procedures to keep site drawings and documentation up to date

Assists with managing capital improvement projects to ensure budgetary guidelines and contractual guarantees are met
-
Support and participate in Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs, reporting on KPIs measured against FERC Rules, NERC Standards, and ISO Rules
-
Oversee all environmental compliance activities, including preparing quarterly and annual reports. Interface with consultants, as needed, in the completion of environmental projects.

Other duties as required, including on-call plant operations support
You Have:
-
Technical undergraduate degree in Engineering or a related field. Equivalent work experience will also be considered

3+ Years of proven progressive Power Plant experience
-
Power station operations and maintenance of power plant/codes of practice, technical procedures, etc., including NERC familiarity
-
Experience using Excel, MS Project, computerized maintenance, distributed control, digital logic, and performance management systems (CMMS, OSI PI, CEMS/DAHS), etc.

Experience in budgeting and cost center control

Excellent communication and analytical skills, the ability to present facts, conclusions, and recommendations in written communications, both in formal and informal formats
