Job description

Franklin University, located in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate level Exercise and Wellness Principles courses. These 12-week courses will be taught online each term.

In these courses, students will gain an understanding of the concepts of physical fitness, health, and wellness, including psychosocial factors, key components of fitness, key dietary nutrients, the effects of modern lifestyles on disease development, and basic components of fitness plans and the structure, breadth, and application of the discipline of kinesiology, and identify career options available in kinesiology. They will also understand culture and sociology of sport and society, including current topics such as deviance, aggression, coaching subculture, varsity sports programs, gender-equity, and race and ethnicity in sport. Finally, students will understand how to design and implement safe and effective strength training, athletic performance, and personal training programs using scientific principles and including sport-specific testing, proper exercise technique, and principles of progression and variation.

Requirements for these positions include a master’s degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Nutrition or Wellness, or a related degree. If the degree is in a related field, the candidate should have at least 18 graduate credit hours in these areas or a related academic area. 3-5 years of fitness, wellness, health, or sports performance experience are required. Prior experience teaching Exercise Science at the university level is preferred.
